dense and brooding, earthy and fleshy note, spices and herbals, well structured, solid acidity, m+ body, dry chalky tannins, multi-layered, with a concentrated fruity core. a well polished savoury Bannockburn! accessible now, though no problem holding for next 3-5 years.

Very good Central Otago Pinot, a blend of Earnscleugh, Bannockburn & Gibbston fruit. Quite dark ruby in the glass, some bramble characters and spice, with blackberry, cassis and delicate cedarwood. Will improve with age, needs a bit of time to unwind just like the rest of us.

Decanted 3 hrs. While both light in both color and body, this was fascinating departure from any of my go to OR or Burg Pinots. More root vegetables than anything else I can readily recall, or perhaps a cross between earthy / soil matter and with some strawberries, but hopefully this gets across the gist of it. Proper and cleansing acidity, and for such a agile and buoyant wine, there is some real staying power on the finish. I understand this vineyard, Gibbston, is a very cool site which is Jim Dandy as this is a very cool wine. FYI - This is the great Kiwi actor Sam Neill's wine and it's clear he takes his wine a lot more seriously than he does himself - do some googling, he'll win you over real quick.

{screwcap, 13%} Fresh and vibrant pinot, full of strawberry and deli meat flavours, with soft low/medium dusty tannins, subtle oak, medium acidity and a medium length finish. Dry but still with decent fruit richness, this is impressive stuff for a decent price. ANy time over the next five years is good with this one.

Pale ruby color — medium intensity aromas and medium(+) intensity flavors of sour cherries, raspberries, and strawberries, with subtle hints of violets and earth that later evolve to add a black pepper character. Medium alcohol, body, and medium(+) tannin, with high acidity and a medium(+) finish. Fun, versatile, cool climate Pinot Noir.

Beautiful, clear raspberry/cranberry color. Medium(+) intensity aromas and pronounced flavors of raspberry, red currant, cranberry, and a hint of grapefruit with a nice minerality adding structure. Dry, medium alcohol, medium(-) body, high acidity, and a long finish.

This is a very enjoyable wine. Love the darker color and the bright red fruits linger on the palate. Great for sipping or would compliment any number of snacks and lighter dishes (the winemaker suggests salmon salad, venison tartare, and soft cheeses specifically). Most would think of it as a summer picnic wine, but it will brighten any day.

Burgundy red with a slight tinge of brown. Delightful ripe raspberries and spice box notes on the bouquet. Big fruit flavours of cherry on the palate, that balance elegantly with secondary spice flavours and soft tannins. The mouthfeel and finish portrays, complexity balance and purity that has me rate this wine.

Clean light cherry in the glass, hints of expected purple with nothing approaching the signs of oxidation/age.
On the nose, Forrest floor, mushroom, macerated oxidised cherry and... I detect Bret.
The pallet is initially boozy overripe Strawberry, bitter orange(!?) Follows with light tannins for a velvety mouthfeel to distinguish to distinguish this southern hemisphere pinot from its bergundian cousins.

Really nothing but good things here! Translucent bright crimson colour with plenty of evident viscosity. The nose isn’t overwhelming but it’s lovely with some subtle cherry, spice and a hint of cola. The palate is smooth with a nice red fruit core, subtle acidity and just a balanced hint of bitterness (in a good way). Just drinking on its own and Chicken Risotto awaits and should be a reasonable if not obvious match. I think this will develop further with time and glad I have a few bottles left.

I have been a bit guilty of overlooking Two Paddocks Picnic range of wines, particularly the Pinot Noir, in favour of the main estate wine or the single vineyard wines. The 2020 is definitely worth considering. In my opinion it’s not quite in the same league as the other wines but it’s got bags of fruit and is representative of the estate. It’s a lovely wine to enjoy while waiting for the estate Pinot or the single vineyard wines to enter respective drinking windows.

Dinner at Imperial Treasure Teochew Ion. Light colour - mid garnet. Softly textured, no edges. Light body. Sweet ripe fruit, no greenness but quite fresh. Red fruited, cherries and strawberries, typical of this varietal. More finesse and elegance than most NZ Pinots, which can be quite robust and rustic. A rather attractive cool climate profile.

Drinking very nicely with more savouriness that I find in most Central Otago Pinots, which have a tendency to be very fruity.

Sadly my last bottle but would comfortably go another 4-5years.
